Fortis Global Healthcare Holdings Pvt Ltd acquires 28.6% stake in Lanka Hospitals Corp Plc for $36.3 million.
The 350-bed Lanka Hospitals is majority owned by Sri Lanka Insurance Corp Ltd, a Sri Lankan Government co.
In October 2006, Apollo Hospital sells its entire 33.22% stake (52.03 million shares) in lanka Hospital for INR 638 million, at 28 Sri Lankan rupees per share.
Two other investors Ratnarajah Navaratnam and Bobby Kundanmal of Sino Lanka Pvt Ltd, who held 3.19 and 5.03% respectively, also sell out, giving Jayawardene's Sri Lanka Insurance Corp (SLIC) 80% of the shares.
